Employee Development
At UConn Health, we are committed to supporting your professional growth and continuous learning. Employees have access to a variety of development opportunities designed to strengthen skills, expand knowledge, and support career advancement.
Academic Impressions offers on-demand articles, courses, webcasts, and virtual trainings focused on leadership, communication, employee engagement, and higher education best practices.
Through the State of Connecticut CEUI Technical Training Program, employees can access technical and job-specific training to build competencies, enhance performance, and meet continuing education requirements.
The State of Connecticut In-Service Training Program provides a wide range of professional development workshops covering topics such as leadership, communication, workplace effectiveness, compliance, and more.
We encourage all employees to explore these resources and partner with their supervisors to identify learning opportunities aligned with their professional goals.
Leadership & Management Development
UConn Health leaders are a crucial component to the success of our academic health center. In support of them driving our mission and values, UConn Health offers programs and resources to support leaders at every stage of their development.
These opportunities include:
- On-demand leadership courses are virtual trainings.
- In-person leadership development focused on emotional intelligence, communication, coaching and team trust.

- Engagement support with leaders to strengthen engagement, feedback, recognition, and team connection strategies.

- Access to the HR Management Toolkit and employee recognition programs to support your team's success.
State In-Service Training
Enhance your skills with over 85 online and in-person courses available to all Connecticut state employees through the Connecticut Community College System. UConn Health employees can take courses to:
- · Strengthen business skills
- · Develop leadership abilities
- · Advance technological expertise
How Do I Pay For Courses with Fees?
Permission by a manager/supervisor must be obtained prior to registering for courses. Payment arrangements must be discussed at that time.
Option 1: Transfer Voucher. The department pays with a Transfer Voucher.
Option 2: Personal Check. The employee pays with a personal check made out to UConn Health Center.
Option 3: Union Reimbursement. The employee pays with a personal check made out to UConn Health Center. UHP union members complete and submit a UHP Union Course/Conference Reimbursement Form. Employees not in UHP should check in their union contracts or handbook for more information on the availability of reimbursements.
Prior approvals and clearance must be made from the union and/or department manager prior to signing up for any course requiring payment.
